Locomotive Breath

We were very glad to have a down day after our NYC experience. If ever you have the opportunity to take the train ride from NYC to Montreal - DO IT! I saw somewhere that it was voted one of the top 10 train rides in the world.  It was mind blowing. Seriously. I didn't stop gawking the whole 11 hours.

Going through customs en route to Montreal, Quebec

The train leaves Penn Station and follows the Hudson River up the island of Manhattan and just keeps following it all the way up through the state. Eventually the river turns into Lake Champlain and the passengers are bestowed with the beauty of this waterway and the New England countryside for the entire ride.

Here's what our train journey looked like:

Naps

Sprawling and enjoying the ride in a way that you can't on an airplane. No seatbelts! No electronic death during takeoff and landing! You can walk around! And take up multiple seats!

And you can see amazing scenery every. single. second.

This is Ana dramatically singing Les Mis songs in Yonkers, NY.

We went to the cafe car and played cards.

And looked outside some more.

And FINALLY we arrived. We got into Montreal around 7 pm and took a taxi to the Marrè house. It was a glorious reunion. They took us on a tour of their home and their neighborhood. This photo is a perfect representation of how it was to be with them again in their town and in their love.

Wow, I love all these kids so much.

The girls slept together the first night. This picture gives me major anxiety now because of the -umm- disease that was spread during that night, but for the moment, it was very, very sweet. They weren't allowed to sleep together again after this. :/
